Welcome to the first edition of Betting with the Bees – where we buzz through the sportsbooks, size up the odds, and give you some Over/Under leans for the NHL season.
This isn’t gambling advice – just a fun way to connect fantasy hockey trends with sportsbook lines. Think of it as fantasy meets futures, for entertainment purposes only.
The Buzz: How Point Totals Work
Sportsbooks set a point total line for each team’s regular season. You can bet whether a team will finish Over (more points) or Under (fewer points).
For fantasy hockey, these lines give us a sense of team expectations – Overs usually mean more goals, assists, and fantasy-friendly production.
Eastern Conference Leans
Boston Bruins – 80.5 – Over (slight)
Defense + goaltending keep them competitive even with roster turnover.
Buffalo Sabres – 84.5 – Over
Core is maturing; healthy bounce could put them in 90-point range.
Carolina Hurricanes – 106.5 – Under (close)
Elite team, but 106.5 is lofty. Depth will be tested.
Columbus Blue Jackets – 84.5 – Under (close)
Improved but still too top-heavy to bank on 85+.
Detroit Red Wings – 84.5 – Under
Bubble team; secondary scoring may hold them back.
Florida Panthers – 106.5 – Over (thin margin)
Playoff-tested core; consistent at even strength.
Montreal Canadiens – 91.5 – Under (close)
Promising but still developing. 86-90 feels safer.
New Jersey Devils – 99.5 – Over
If goaltending is steady, their offense pushes triple digits.
New York Islanders – 99.5 – Over
Sorokin gives them a high floor; ugly games still count.
New York Rangers – 95.5 – Over
High-end stars and reliable special teams.
Ottawa Senators – 95.5 – Under (close)
Trending upward, but hitting 96 needs a leap.
Philadelphia Flyers – 84.5 – Under (close)
Competitive, but lacking scoring punch.
Pittsburgh Penguins – 76.5 – Over
Low bar. Even modest seasongs get them to 78-82
Tampa Bay Lightning – 102.5 – Over (close)
Aging stars but still a 100+ point roster if healthy.
Toronto Maple Leafs – 99.5 – Over
Regular-season juggernaut, postseason aside.
Washington Capitals – 96.5 – Under (close)
Respectable but hard to repeat last year’s spike.
Western Conference Leans
Anaheim Ducks – 84.5 – Under
Young core not quite ready for mid-80’s.
Calgary Flames – 83.5 – Under (close)
Re-tooling; 80-82 more realistic.
Chicago Blackhawks – 67.5 – Over
Bedard + better depth push them past 70.
Colorado Avalanche – 105.5 – Over (thin)
Healthy stars = easy 104-108.
Dallas Stars – 104.5 – Over
Elite depth, few holes; 105+ is well within reach.
Edmonton Oilers – 104.5 – Over (close)
Power play alone could get them there.
Los Angeles Kings – 98.5 – Under (close)
Solid but more of a 96-98 profile.
Minnesota Wild – 95.5 – Under (close)
Need offense to pop; otherwise low 90’s.
Nashville Predators – 86.5 – Over
Steady two-way play puts them near 90.
San Jose Sharks – 70.5 – Under
Deep rebuild; little scoring help.
Seattle Kraken – 78.5 – Under (close)
Five-on-five is fine, but lacking finishers.
St. Louis Blues – 92.5 – Under (close)
Bubble team; special teams will decide.
Utah Mammoth – 92.5 – Over (slight)
New market buzz, good roster balance; mid-90’s possible.
Vancouver Canucks – 90.5 – Over
Star power plus improved depth them above 90.
Vegas Golden Knights – 106.5 – Over (thin)
Regular-season machine; 104-108 again.
Winnipeg Jets – 97.5 – Over
Goaltending + transition game = 98-102.
Buzz Picks
- Sabres Over 84.5 – Young core reaty to turn the corner.
- Kraken Under 78.5 – No elite finisher, tough to see 79+.
- Stars Over 104.5 – Arguably the most balanced team in hockey.
